Feeling Blue?

Heyyyyo
How are yáll doing on this fine day? Hoping you're last week of May is taking yáll well and good. Its almost that time of the month (not what you're thinking), where you ''can'' go crazy with your bank account, the time when everyone in Nairobi decides to remove their cars, traffic balaa, when you can finally eat a five course meal at posh restaurants unlike the normal boiled maize and beans endured mid-month to end month. Yes its almost pay day. Buuuut if you're a student like me/I, this is Greek to you ( brokeness day in day out, lol I'm joking, you know I'm not haha) don't worry we shall finish soon and join the real, real world. Join the cycle? Or break it? Its all up to you. I can't make any promises.

Away from topics about being broke and real worlds, today's look is sth blue. If you read one of my previous posts Heels and Pastels you would know that I'm trying to add some color to my closet and I thought starting with this cobalt blue maxi skirt would be a good idea. Was it? To me, it felt like the right transition cos its not too shouty/bright or a clashing color and I loved the feel of the material, slightly corduroy (despite most people hating corduroy) and the slit in the front, mmh, sealed the whole deal. I paired the skirt with a fitting off shoulder black top and black with gold details (not so hell) kitten heels. Accessorized with a black homemade choker and big triangular brass spiral earrings from dhana_vito.

The Red Coat.

Hey y'all
How've y'all been? How is your May fairing on...? Mine? BAD!!! I had exams for the past two weeks and I was sick the majority of the time plus the weather has been on another level of bad etc etc. I hope yours has been better and you're all little happy bundles of joy.

BTW I'm I the only one who overreacts when they fall sick? A sure of hands????? None? So as mentioned earlier I was a bit, no I was a lot sick (pardon my English). I had the worst cold/flu/homa in the history of colds (insert hyperbole) like I literally felt like I was going to die (Praise Jesus I overcame it). Why was it the worst cold? You might wonder, So there was this one day, I think it was the first day I started getting the symptoms, I was just cooking, you know minding my own business, jamming to XFM, then ALAS!!! I start getting this sharp chest pains, like SERIOUS CHEST PAINS (hyperbole). I was like "Jesus I'm coming home, seems like our appointment will be sooner", I started thinking about how my funeral will be like, I even thought of holding a pre-funeral-ish kind of thing like The Fault In our Stars, yes I was that scared.
I know now you're like overreact much? Yes yes I tend to over exaggerate/overreact a lot but this takes the cake, with all these diseases emerging everyday, its okay to get scared, right? but I beat the cold thanks to God and western medicine *applause applause*. If you have the same tendencies as I, you're a weirdo and kudos.

So on to other business, today's look is primarily centered on the red coat (I'm sure that was captured from the title, duh!). So yes, I looove it. Its red and its long and it came with a red dress (a post for another day), like yeeesss, check please. It has been in my closet for quite some time, collecting dust and all but I finally whipped it out of the closet and came up with this outfit. I paired it up with an all black outfit and black pumps which are the cutest. held my braids up and I forgot to wear earrings, tsk, my bad.
Hope you enjoy the look and have yourselves an awesome week ahead.

Brownie Business.

Hey hey hey
Its been a while, ey? This is because my laziness chronicles continue to weigh  me down as they always have and I apologize on behalf of my nervous system, digestive and circulatory systems too. Hopefully your past few weeks have been good and productive unlike mine. Either way its been a good couple of weeks, courtesy of the UoN's indefinite holiday.

By the way, I'm I the only one who doesn't have a nduthi guy (motorbike guy for our international readers)?? Cos one day I was eavesdropping (eavesdropping is baaad, do not do it) my brother's phone call, don't judge me I was bored and he was like "si ucome na msee wako wa nduthi" (come here with your motorbike guy) to avoid traffic or sth. I then asked a couple of my friends if they had nduthi guys, most of them have such guys and now I'm wondering if there's a memo I missed for this. But my wonders were quickly extinguished due to my dire fear of being on a motorbike anywhere let alone in these busy streets of Nairobi, like don't people love their lives. Yes its faster than a matatu but aiiii.
My brother actually loves using them when he's commuting, sometimes I wonder if we're of the same blood (shout out to him though!!). I'll take some notes from him.
If you have a nduthi guy hook a sister up.

Today's look is all brown except the shoes and bag, duh? Brown is not a color I would wear on a daily or weekly basis, maybe after a fort night but this look just came together when I bought the coat, despite it being oversize and hard to iron (pardon the creases on the coat), still got love for it. I beat the oversize-ness by using a belt put on brown pants and the look came to life. Did my hair up and did a winged eyeliner for some sass. This look is more business-y and I would recommend it for business meetings, presentations etc.
Hope you enjoyed my nduthi rants as well as the outfit post.
Blessed week.

PS I got the envelope bag for shs. 100 yaaasss
Until next time

Booties.

heeeeey peeps
hope y'all been good? Its been two weeks? been caught up with school work, CATs and last week was Easter.... Yaaay. Hope you had a good one as I did (not really) Everyone went to shagz and left me behind coz I ain't gon' leave my baby (kitten) at home all alone for a whole weekend like daamn I love my baby too much. Yeah I know in your head you're like call the asylum, but if at all you have a pet you know what I'm talking about so we stayed in and binge watched South Park and Fresh Prince. But all in all, hope y'all had a good Easter and week. I know I did.
BTW to clarify by "booties" I don't mean boootay like booty (depends on how you were raised to spell it) do teachers even teach these things? what am I saying.... Ignore all that I may be high on nail polish or sth. I should lay off on painting my nails for sometime tsk. BUT yes I mean booties as in BOOTS (like Dora's monkey friend who wears Boots, BOOTS). Love them. They have to be my favorites at the moment, with all these unpredictable weather patterns we're experiencing in Nairobi in the past few days.
They are just the right footwear for those rainy mornings and hot afternoons or vice versa. I got this little booties at Bus Station (where I get most of my shoes) for like Kshs 300, like yeeeeeeeeeeeessssssss, major steal and if you know me, well, I'm a sucker for major steals. Guilty.
I paired up these babies with a pair of blue jeans, a v neck sweater from hm and a purp coat that was just hanging around my shoulders, arms and hands because, this weather... For my hair I used perm rods on wet, heavily moisturized in coconut and olive oil hair. Here the curls are 3 days old I sleep with a kitambaa on my head and fluff the hair out using my hands in the morning and then I hit the road.
Hope you enjoyed today's post and a happy week to you and yours.

PS: the purple coat was just Kshs 30.... Let that sink in.

Until Next Time,

Just Muthoni.

Mom Jeans and Head Wraps.

Heyyyyo
How are yáll doing on this fine day? Hoping you're fourth week of March is taking yáll well and good. Just heard the word "Flabbergast" in a song. Such a beautiful word to say FLAB_BER_GAST. Pronounce it and you'll see what I'm talking about. Mmmmmmh see what I mean, if you didn't you're probably weird. haa the irony.
Today's look is all about my personal favorite (I have a lot of favorites so I'm sorry if you loose track, "This girls ain't loyal"), Mom Jeans. BTW they're literally my mom's jeans, sshhh. I remember when I was young (okay I am still young) "small", she would wear such pants and I would be like wharrathose?. I was pretty shady  coz my main fashion goal (if we could call it that) then was just to cover my big booty, I used to feel like my gluteus maximus was rhinoceros massive, so baggy clothes were the way to go It worked well for me (help me!!) lol.
Back to "mom's" Mom Jeans I used to think they were the worst, my mom would sometimes pass them down to me and I would stash them at the back of my closet, never to see the light of day. Then suddenly I was 15 and I started to slightly dislike them, so they moved close to the front and suddenly at 20 here I am classifying them as my personal favorite (good work Mom Jeans and mom).
I paired them with a cute grey top (which was once a hooded top) and brogues (heaven). And to wrap it all up (see what I did there?): a monochrome Head Wrap, for those bad hair days that make you run to the nearest leso /scarf, big triangular brass spiral earrings from dhana_vito and the cutest black and white "kyondo" bag from Masai Market.
Hope you enjoy today's look.
Have an awesome Easter Holiday.

ps: most of my head wrap styles are usually guess work because tutorials are hard to follow ;(.

Until Next time
